This detox raspberry banana smoothie gives you a great boost for the day. It’s enriched with the popular chia seeds, a “whole grain” food usually grown organically and naturally free of gluten. I am going on with my gluten free and diary free diet (it is linked to my baby’s colic as I have explained in this post), I have to admit that I am feeling very well. Despite the fact that you have to plan what to eat and find “alternative food”, it’s a good way to detox the body, we all should do it every now and then.
WHAT DETOX DOES TO YOUR BODY?
Detoxification is done by removing impurities from the blood. This means stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body, improving circulation of the blood, eliminate toxins through the kidneys, intestines, and skin, and refueling the body with healthy nutrients.
This raspberry banana smoothie for breakfast is loaded with nutritious foods, fiber, Omega 3, protein and vitamins.
You can make it in advance and sip it on your journey to work.
The chia seeds swell up giving this drink a lovely texture.

RECIPE TIP:
If you want to maximize Chia’s benefits, you can soak a tablespoon in a glass of water overnight.
CURIOSITY:
The unique property of Chia seeds is their ability to absorb up to 12 times its weight in water. Hydrated Chia slows digestion and the time it takes for your stomach to empty which means you feel full longer.
DURING PREGNANCY
Chia seeds are easy to incorporate into your daily routine and benefit not only the mother’s health, but the baby’s development as well.
